THE ROCKALL JUBILEE EXPEDITION
30th MAY to 2nd JUNE 2012
“The most isolated speck of rock, surrounded by water, on the surface of the Earth.” James A. MacIntosh (1946)
Originally planned as ROCKALLSOLO, a unique endurance expedition to be undertaken by Nick Hancock in order to raise funds for Help for Heroes, the aim of the expedition has now refocussed to be a reconnaissance mission for a future 60 day occupation of Rockall. Departing at the end of May 2012, Nick hopes to land on Rockall and carry out various equipment checks and test in preparation for a future record breaking attempt on the rock. The estimated date of departure, which is weather dependant, coincides with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee weekend, and Nick aims to be on the rock during the celebrations.
THE ROCKALL JUBILEE EXPEDITION is please to be assocated with The Scottish Sun and Atlantic Marine Services. The expedition is being covered by BBC Radio Scotland in a programme to be broadcast on Monday 4th June.
Whilst the primary aim of this expedition is reconnaissance for the future ROCKALL SOLO EXPEDITION, if you would like to sponsor Nick's attempted landing in 2012 in support of Help for Heroes, please click below:
